First of all, the draft is just over 3 weeks away. Now, all the mock drafts pop up over social media. Yet, who knows what will happen? Granted, it’s very likely the Raiders could will go secondary in the first round. If top talent is still on the board at 24, and preferred players are gone, I can definitely see selecting an offensive player.
Also this year’s draft boasts good RBs and OL. However, here are a few things to consider if the Raiders signed a couple free agents before the draft. As a result, that could significantly impact the draft process this year. However, if the goal was to resign ILB Perry Riley or pursue another MLB, the process shifts. Therefore, the Raiders can afford to wait until the next couple of rounds to address that particular need.

In addition, I still feel the need for a DT remains and another safety as well. There doesn’t seem to be a lot of talk in FA about those positions. Yet, don’t be surprised if something pops up out of the blue . So here’s an unlikely scenario, but one that could make sense how about we sign a MLB, and take RB Christian McCaffrey in the first round. Originally, the thought was Joe Mixon. However, Oakland’s strong anti-violence against women rightfully prevents this. McCaffrey is a better receiver without the baggage.
Likewise what if we didn’t sign Perry Riley now that would definitely mean we are 99% likely to draft an ILB first round. With names like Raekwon McMillan and Zach Cunningham possibly there, the Raiders need to draft on eof these LB
Eventually, I would like to see them bring in a ILB and maybe a veteran DT as depth and even possibly a RB there still plenty of them in the open market. Some like Adrian Peterson , LeGarrette Blount and of course Marshawn Lynch IF he decides to come out of retirement. For a defense ranked 26th overall, the time to grab talent is now. On the doorstep of a Super Bowl calibre season provides motivation to draft this way. Oakland needs to improve this immediately
