9 Chiefs players remain out of training camp practice due to injury

The Kansas City Chiefs were back at training camp for practice on Wednesday after a day off on Tuesday.

Here is the full list of players that didn’t practice today:

The best news of the day is that the Chiefs had no new injuries to report from practice today.

After a day off of practice on Tuesday, typically the expectation is that a few guys could come off of the injury list. Three players returned to practice according to The Athletic’s Nate Taylor. WR Maurice Ffrench returned to practice after dealing with a knee injury on Monday. DB Armani Watts was also back at practice after sitting out of Monday’s practice with an illness. DT Braxton Hoyett returned after missing time with a shoulder injury.

Other than those three players, everyone remained the status quo. The three players who left practice early on Monday — Dieter, Smith and Durant — all remained out of practice with their respective injuries. Of increasing concern are DEs Okafor and Danna who both remain sidelined by calf injuries.

Nnadi was backed off of practice with his ankle acting up. Nnadi reportedly had offseason ankle surgery to clear up an old injury. He’s going on his third consecutive rest day. With Mike Pennel’s two-game suspension, if Nnadi isn’t available in Week 1, the Chiefs could be short on DT depth.

Another big concern is the absence of Osemle due to a shoulder injury. Osemele had surgery for a torn labrum in his right shoulder last season.

Tyreek Hill did stretching and conditioning in pads today before spending the rest of the day in the training tent according to Kansas City Star reporter Herbie Teope. Andy Reid said, “He’s heading in the right direction.” The Chiefs are clearly being cautious with his injury to ensure that he’s available for Week 1.
