49ers injury update: Raheem Mostert likely headed to IR

The 49ers had their offensive weapons intact for one game. Now they’re set to lose running back Raheem Mostert for an extended period of time according to head coach Kyle Shanahan. Center Ben Garland is also set to miss multiple weeks.

Mostert suffered a high ankle sprain in Sunday night’s win over the Rams. He had 16 totes in the first half, then carried once in the second half before exiting the game for good. Shanahan said Mostert’s ailment will likely land him on Injured Reserve.

Garland may also go on IR because of a calf strain he suffered Sunday night. Hroniss Grasu played the final seven snaps against the Rams and figures to continue in the center spot with Garland out

Mostert already missed two games this season with a knee sprain. Now an IR stint ensures he’ll miss at least three more games. Mostert was the 49ers’ leading rusher this season with 303 rushing yards and 5.9 yards per attempt. Jerick McKinnon, JaMycal Hasty and Jeff Wilson Jr. are the other running backs on the roster.
