4-star cornerback Zion Ferguson flips from LSU to North Carolina

On Sunday, 4-star, 2024 cornerback Zion Ferguson announced his decommitment from LSU. An hour later, he announced that he was committing to play for the North Carolina Tar Heels.

Ferguson is a 6-foot, 165-pound corner from Gainesville, Georgia, where he plays for the Gainesville Red Elephants. The Red Elephants got a new head coach last year in Josh Niblett, a multiple-time state title winner at Hoover High School in Alabama. He knows a thing or two about coaching up great players.

LSU has two current cornerback commitments for the 2024 recruiting class (four-star Ondre Evans and three-star Wallace Foster). The class is currently ranked as the No. 8 overall class by 247Sports.

Brian Kelly has done a great job in the past two years re-tooling the defense through the transfer portal but that has not stopped him from going after some of the best defensive backs in the country. Ferguson’s recruitment will be one to keep an eye on.
