30 Texas high school girls soccer players to watch this season across the Austin area

With some schools starting district play this week, here are 30 girls soccer players to watch this season across the Austin area.

Sierra Ache, senior forward, Vandegrift: A two-time, first-team all-district performer, Ache scored seven goals with 10 assists a year ago and was named first-team all-region.

Lilly Arellano, junior midfielder, Rouse: The multi-skilled center midfielder was an all-district pick who scored 17 goals and had 14 assists.

Aly Arsenault, senior, midfielder, Vandegrift: Arsenault is key returning senior for the Vipers midfield and is excellent with the ball. Her experience will be critical to the midfield and team development.

Amelia Clark, sophomore midfielder, Lake Travis: Clark is an explosive scorer playing in the midfield but has exceptional long touch and scoring skills.

Kate Cooper, senior midfielder, Westwood: The returning team captain led the Warriors to the state tournament last spring with strong midfield fundamentals and ball control.

Paige Davis, senior defender, Leander: She scored 15 goals with eight assists last year and had a key goal in the playoff shootout win over Alamo Heights. Adept at both ends of the pitch, she is committed to Regis University.

Brooklyn Escobar, junior goalkeeper, Liberty Hill: The District 25-5A MVP and a second-team all-state selection a year ago, she was also a standout libero on the Panthers volleyball state finalist team.

Breckyn Ferrell, sophomore midfielder, Lake Travis: A first-team all-District 26-6A pick and the district newcomer of the year had four goals and five assists as a defensive midfielder last season.

Bella Flowers, senior defender, Georgetown: The defensive key to 17 shutouts last season and a run to the Class 5A state semifinals for the Eagles, the first-team all-district pick is an outstanding marking back.

Maria Frazier, senior defender, Leander: A team captain, first-team all-district pick and a first-team academic all-district pick, she was part of a dynamic backline that allowed only two goals in four playoff rounds. She helped the Lions to 13 regular-season shutouts after allowing only 18 goals all season.

Gracie Garner, junior, forward, Liberty Hill: Garner scored 13 goals last season, has a quick first step inside the box and is difficult to defend.

Amelia Griffin, senior midfielder, Burnet: The two-time district MVP scored 35 goals and notched 31 assists a year ago for the Bulldogs.

Evelyn Grossman, junior midfielder, Anderson: The Trojans’ defensive MVP and first-team all-district selection leads Anderson’s backline.

Sloan Guion, junior, Round Rock: A first-team all-district defender, Guion has a versatile skillset and strong marking abilities for the highly regarded Dragons.

Lauren Hill, junior, forward, St. Michael’s Academy: The standout has been key in the Crusaders’ back-to-back state tournament finishes in TAPPS soccer.

Ellie Hodsden, senior forward, Dripping Springs: Hodsden started last season as a sophomore but has reclassified herself to graduate in 2024. She has already committed to Notre Dame. Hodsden scored 50 goals last spring, breaking her own school record of 47 set in 2022.

Taylor Hodsden, senior forward, Dripping Springs: Older sister of Ellie, Taylor scored in the Tigers 2021 state championship match and is a four-year starter and deft ball-handler.

Kaleigh Howell, senior midfielder, Dripping Springs: A four-year starter and member of the Tigers state title team with Taylor Hodsden, Howell is a veteran, highly skilled ball-control specialist who is key to the young Tigers offense.

Kylie Jamar, senior defender, Leander: The returning all-district selection keyed the Lions’ playoff run with tremendous dense and marking skill.

Laney Kalsu, senior, St. Michael’s: The Oklahoma-bound player is a two-time TAPPS academic all-state selection and has led the Crusaders to the TAPPS state tournament the past two years. A member of Dripping Springs' Class 5A state championship team as a freshman, she's scored five goals and has five assists this year.

Meredith Koltz junior forward, Cedar Park: The 25-5A MVP scored 26 goals with 14 assists and set the school scoring record. She also earned first-team all-district and academic all-district honors.

Avery Lang, senior forward, Lake Travis: The Seminole State commit, three-year starter and two-time all-district pick scored seven goals with seven assists last season.

AJ Mayock, senior midfielder, Round Rock: The District 25-6A MVP scored 11 goals with six assists, but her primary role was as a defensive stopper and ball-control specialist in the midfield to transition the offense. Her leadership, commitment, soccer IQ and level of play were superlative. A three-time first-team all-district pick, she has committed to Illinois.

Allie Meachum, senior defender, Anderson: A two-time all-district selection, Meachum is a stalwart defensively for the Trojans.

Kendall Meachum, senior goalkeeper, Anderson: Meachum is brilliant in the net, was a first-team all-district in 2022 when the Trojans won a Class 5A district title, then second-team all-District 26-6A last year. Athletic, talented, and calm, she’s the key to Anderson’s defense.

Alexis Montgomery, junior midfielder, Round Rock: The District 25-6A midfielder of the year was a versatile standout who dominated possession. She had 10 goals and 18 assists.

Isabel Peters, senior midfielder, Cedar Park: Peters is a UTSA commit who was first-team all-district, all-state and academic all-district.

Sofia Peters, junior midfielder, Cedar Park: Peters is all-state TGCA, all-region TASCIO, has strong foot skills and is an excellent passing midfielder.

Teagan Wahle, junior midfielder, Leander: Wahle was the District 25-5A newcomer of the year, first-team all district and all-state. She has committed to Youngstown State University.

Mia Wiele, sophomore defender, Westwood: Wiele led the Warriors in goals and assists on their way to state, earning District 25-6A newcomer honors as well as a spot on the district first team and a second-team all-state designation.

Kate Wyrick, junior defender, Westwood: Wyrick is a returning starter on the top-flight Westwood defensive backline and helped key the Warriors’ state playoff run and state semifinalist finish last spring. She has strong margin and ball-control skills.
