3 keys for Eagles defense vs. Dolphins offense in Week 7

The time has finally come, and we’re just a little under two hours away from the Kelly Green uniforms returning in a Sunday night showdown against the Dolphins.

Julio Jones was elevated from the practice squad, and we’ll make his debut.

The game features two MVP candidates at quarterbacks, two wide receivers on a projection of 1,900+ yards receiving, and game-changing speed on both sides of the football.

Miami enters the contest averaging 37 points per game, and they’ll be headlined by All-Pro receiver Tyreek Hill, who is having an outstanding season – he leads the NFL with 42 receptions, 814 yards, and six touchdowns.

Darius Slay will return for the Eagles, and he’ll be tasked with slowing down the juggernaut.

With kickoff fast approaching, here are three keys for the Philadelphia defense.

Contain the Dolphins athletes

“They’re a track team,” linebacker Nakobe Dean said of Miami’s league-leading offense. “You can’t get into a track meet with a team like that.”

The Eagles have athletes and they’ll look to unleash Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis and Sydney Brown on the Dolphins stars.

Sean Desai will look to pressure Tua Tagovailoa, while taking Tyreek Hill out of the game.

Be efficient

The Miami offense is averaging more than 37 points per game.

For Philadelphia, it be about sound offensive efficiency, a solid run-pass ratio, and a game plan that limits the Dolphins offensive possessions.

On defense, one of the NFL’s top defensive units has to tackle, finish plays and keep EVERYTHING in front of them.

A track meet doesn’t favor Philadelphia, while solid tempo could turn this into a route for the home team.

Travel with Tyreek

Tyreek Hill is having an MVP season – he leads the NFL with 42 receptions and 814 yards along with 6 touchdowns.

Darius Slay is back and if Philadelphia can slow down Hill, they’ll win the game.

Free Haason Reddick

Reddick talked about getting sacks in bunches, and after losing the cast on his injured thumb, the pass rusher has 5.5 sacks in the last three games with 28 quarterback pressures and 8 quarterback hits on the season.
