247Sports chooses Texas as the most dangerous football team in 2023

Steve Sarkisian’s team is carrying a heavy weight of expectations entering the 2023 college football season.

The talent and depth on the roster is clearly evident. However, Texas still has to prove that they can consistently perform at a high level each week.

Most Texas fans believe the team is capable of taking home the Big 12 title this season, but expecting an appearance in the College Football Playoff sounds a bit premature.

It doesn’t sound premature to 247Sports, though.

Brad Crawford chose Texas as the most dangerous team to watch in 2023. His list consisted of 10 programs who have never reached the College Football Playoff, but could be in the playoff conversation come December.

Texas will be in the playoff, according to 247Sports’ way-too-early bowl projections. This team has one of the nation’s most-equipped rosters in getting through the Big 12 and finishing inside the top four, regardless of what happens at Alabama in Week 2. It would certainly help if the Longhorns find a way to win that one. With several members of an elite 2023 signing class ready to play early and playmakers everywhere on offense, Texas is primed to be one of the teams in the conversation all season long.

USC, Penn State, Wisconsin and Tennessee rounded out the top five behind Texas.
