2026 World Athletics U20 Championships to be held at Hayward Field in Eugene
The World Athletics Council announced Monday morning that Eugene would host the 2026 World Athletics U20 Championships at Hayward Field.
Hayward Field hosted the World Athletics Championship in 2022, and previously hosted the IAAF World Junior Championships in 2014.
It was the first time the World Athletics Championship was held in the United States in its 39-year history.
“Hayward Magic inspires amazing performances on the track, generates meaningful collaborations in our research facilities and classrooms, and energizes fans, alumni and friends the world over,” University of Oregon President John Karl Scholz said in a statement. “We look forward to welcoming young athletes around the globe to the University of Oregon.”
The event is expected to attract competitors from nearly 200 countries in the summer of 2026.
