2024 PGA Championship odds: Top sleeper picks for Valhalla this week

The 2024 PGA Championship is this weekend, and every golf fan knows who's going to win it all, right? Scottie Scheffler will be playing at the top of his game to honor the birth of his first child. With how well he's been playing, it would be a miracle if any other golfer won the tournament. Should that long-shot miracle come to be though, we need to know who would end up with the title.

Bettors and golf fans alike have been looking at the odds boards trying to decipher which golfers could offer the biggest payout. Which golfers outside the top-20 have the best chances of winning at Valhalla? I'm not talking about the Rory McIlroy's, Brooks Koepka's, and Jon Rahm's, who are expected to win it all if Scheffler doesn't play to his potential. I'm talking about the people in the middle of the pack, the people being overlooked that could earn bettors massive money if they managed to win it all. That's who we're looking at.

Here are the biggest sleepers of the 2024 PGA Championship. All odds via BetMGM.

2024 PGA Championship: Expert picks, predictions and odds

Biggest sleepers at the 2024 PGA Championship:

Jake Knapp (+20000)

If you're looking for a massive longshot, Jake Knapp is the man for the job. Knapp is known for his strength, and long drives play very well at Valhalla. Outside of that advantage though, Knapp is only two weeks removed from a top-ten finish at the Byron Nelson, and he does have a win this year at the Mexico Open.

Knapp is a very hot and cold golfer, who seems to finish each tournament with either a score under -10 or over +10. He's a bit of a wild card, but he has the power and skill to make a serious splash.

Dean Burmester (+9000)

Burmester has been quietly having a fantastic season on the LIV Tour, recording four top-ten finishes, including one win at LIV Golf Miami. I haven't even mentioned his two wins on the European Tour at the Joburg Open and Investec SA Open. Out of everyone with +7500 odds or greater this year, no one has been playing as well as Burmester.

Sahith Theegala (+6600)

You could argue that Theegala's +5500 odds does not make him a true sleeper, but a 55-1 payout would still be massive. Theegala ranks very solid in several key categories entering this weekend -- among the most notable are strokes gained off the tee (22nd) and greens in regulation (32nd).

There's a lot to like about Theegala's game, and he is the highest-ranked player in the FedEx Cup standings without a win this year. Theegala has finished top-ten in five events this year with two runner-up finishes as well. This weekend could very well be the tournament where he breaks through for his first win.
