2024 Mock Draft Round-Up: Where Oregon Ducks are projected to go in April

While the NFL Playoffs are still going on for a select number of teams, the majority of NFL fans are focused on the future at the moment, thinking about where their favorite team is projected to pick in the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft at the end of April.

There seems to be a pretty good chance that a number of those NFL fans start to speculate what life could be like rooting for some prominent Oregon Ducks in the near future, with a handful of stars in Eugene projected to be early-round selections in a few months.

Guys like Bo Nix, Troy Franklin, Jackson Powers-Johnson, Brandon Dorlus, Khyree Jackson, and several others are expected to be taken early in the 2024 draft, and all have had their names thrown out in various mock drafts over the past month.

So where will these guys end up getting drafted? That’s not always a straightforward question to answer. In the world of NFL media nowadays, there are hundreds of mock drafts to sift through, all with varying degrees of predictions for how the draft will play out. Rather than leaving you to go through all of them to get a good idea of where your favorite Ducks are going to get drafted, we did the work for you.

Here is a mock draft roundup, showing where the top Oregon players are projected to land this spring:

Player: Bo Nix

Selection: Round 1 | Pick 14 (New Orleans Saints)

Explanation

I’m a big fan of Nix’s game. I think his experience as a five-year starter is a positive for him as he heads to the next level. He would be a plug-and-play starter in New Orleans. I’m not confident the Saints view Derek Carr as the answer.

Player: Troy Franklin

Selection: Round 1 | Pick 32 (Baltimore Ravens)

Franklin is ultra explosive. He would be another weapon for Lamar Jackson, further strengthening an underrated receiver room.

Selection: Round 1 | Pick 12 (Denver Broncos)

Explanation

If the Broncos do trade Russell Wilson, they’ll of course be in the quarterback market. Nix became an awesome point guard after transferring to Oregon, and that’s precisely what Sean Payton would ask him to do in his offense.

Explanation

Franklin is a flashy, twitched-up wideout who makes plays after the catch and down the field consistently. Nice addition to Buffalo’s offense.

Player: Jackson Powers-Johnson

Selection: Round 1 | Pick 21 (Miami Dolphins)

Explanation

If this happened, it would be one of my favorite team-player fits in the draft. The Dolphins have obvious needs at guard and center, and Powers-Johnson is arguably the best interior blocker in this class. With his size, strength and athleticism, it is hard to find bad tape on him from this past season.

Player: Bo Nix

Selection: Round 2 | Pick 34 (New England Patriots)

Explanation

The NFL feedback on Nix is interesting. Some believe he can sneak his way into the top 25, while others see him as a third-rounder. The reality probably will fall somewhere in the middle.

Nix, who was born two months after the Patriots hired Belichick, understands where to go with the football, and his scrambling can give defenses fits.

Player: Troy Franklin

Selection: Round 2 | Pick 54 (Cleveland Browns)

Explanation

The Browns need to get more explosive at receiver. As a true junior in 2023, Franklin was one of only two FBS receivers with 1,300-plus receiving yards and 14-plus touchdowns (Nabers was the other). He also ranked top three with eight catches of 40-plus yards.

Selection: Round 1 | Pick 26 (Kansas City Chiefs)

Explanation

The Chiefs have been missing a big play threat at wide receiver and Troy Franklin can quickly fix that. He averaged over 17 yards per catch this season on his way to nearly 1,400 receiving yards. His explosive vertical acceleration and long speed will play at the next level.

Player: Bo Nix

Selection: Round 1 | Pick 13 (Las Vegas Raiders)

Explanation

The Raiders are starting over…again. With a new coaching staff on the way, it will behoove them to find the next quarterback of the future with a higher floor. Bo Nix was phenomenal for Oregon in 2023 thanks to his accuracy and processing and can step in early in Las Vegas.

Player: Jackson Powers-Johnson

Selection: Round 1 | Pick 21 (Miami Dolphins)

Explanation

Miami has been decimated by injuries at the end of the 2023 season and was hampered by their offensive line play at times this year. Sureing up their center position which has been a revolving door is crucial to their long-term success. Jackson Powers-Johnson was a very high-floor player for Oregon this year and can provide stability to the Dolphins’ offensive line.

What do the Dolphins need from their center in 2024? They need a high-level athlete who can cover ground and climb levels. They need a strong blocker who can work across-face while keeping the line and drive finishing power. They’ll need an alert, well-leveraged, and combative pass protector. Jackson Powers-Johnson fits all those requirements.

Complacency kills at QB, and Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll run the risk of facing that predicament with Daniel Jones. Thus, if Bo Nix falls this far, they could be aggressive and trade up for him. Nix has a solid baseline with his accuracy, ball handling, and distribution ability, and his high-energy athleticism and vast angle freedom greatly raise his ceiling.

Troy Franklin may need an acclimation period when adjusting to NFL physicality, but he’s an exceptional fit in Shane Steichen’s vertical scheme with his long-strider speed and zone awareness, and he can be a RAC target for Richardson.

Player: Brandon Dorlus

Selection: Round 3 | Pick 71 (Arizona Cardinals)

Jonathan Gannon’s scheme is all about versatility, and Brandon Dorlus — a 6’3″, 280-pound EDGE with both stand-up and 3-tech capabilities — embodies that quality.

Player: Bucky Irving

Selection: Round 3 | Pick 82 (Indianapolis Colts)

The Colts thrived when they had an RB to take pressure off Jonathan Taylor in 2023. Bucky Irving not only does that but serves as a dynamic weapon on his own.
