2022 NBA draft: Thunder select Chet Holmgren at No. 2
The Oklahoma City Thunder have selected Gonzaga forward Chet Holmgren No. 2 in the 2022 NBA draft.
This was always the pick in everybody’s mind. Even though there were some minor rumblings, Holmgren was heavily linked to the Thunder throughout the entirety of the draft process.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the Thunder have been focused on Holmgren all along. Holmgren also reportedly only worked out for the Thunder and Orlando Magic.
The Thunder now add Holmgren to a young core that already consists of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Josh Giddey.
In his lone season at Gonzaga, Holmgren averaged 14.1 points, 9.9 rebounds, 3.7 blocks on 60.7 percent shooting in 32 games.
