2022-23 final Philadelphia 76ers player grades: Montrezl Harrell
The 2022-23 season ended for the Philadelphia 76ers with a Game 7 loss to the Boston Celtics in the second round of the playoffs, so it’s time to reflect on the season.
The Sixers finished 54-28 and were third in the Eastern Conference behind the Milwaukee Bucks and the Celtics in the standings. Considering the 12-12 start, the season was a success despite the sour and familiar ending.
Now it’s time to grade each player on the roster for what he did throughout the season. In this installment, Sixers Wire looks at Montrezl Harrell who was the backup big man to begin the season before giving way to Paul Reed.

Thoughts
To begin the season, Harrell was the backup big man to Joel Embiid. He averaged 12.5 minutes per game before the All-Star break and he averaged 5.7 points off the bench. He and James Harden did a great job of showing off their chemistry and being able to run the pick-and-roll.
As terrific as Harrell was on the offensive end, he had his issues on defense and the Sixers turned more to Reed. Instead of pouting, Harrell did a great job of taking Reed under his wing and giving him advice whenever he needed it.
In the playoffs, Harrell only played two games and he averaged 3.5 minutes in those contests. As free agency approaches, one has to wonder whether he will pick up the player option to remain in Philadelphia or decline it and enter free agency.
