Lena Dunham finally explains her cringeworthy photo with Brad Pitt
Remember that awkward photo of Lena Dunham trying to kiss Brad Pitt that went viral in 2019?
Dunham does, and she’s finally ready to clear the air.
On the May 11 episode of “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen,” the actress addressed the photo from the London premiere of “Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood.”

Cameras caught Dunham clinging to the Oscar-winning actor and apparently going in for a kiss — and Pitt appears less than enthusiastic.
“Well, the way the Internet read it was I had somehow physically accosted him causing him a great deal of stress,” Dunham said. “I would never force a kiss on Brad Pitt. I respect him far too much as an artist and a friend.”
She noted that later that night, Pitt noticed she “felt nervous,” so he took her to a room where they both “secretly ate pizza.”
She also said she told Pitt she liked his ring, so he just gave it to her.
“And every time I wear it, something amazing happens,” she said.
Dunham continued to praise Pitt, who she had met briefly before, as “a truly kind person who can read the room.”
“I expected, you know, a friendly hello from Brad. And I think what happened was the best thing that’s maybe ever happened to me,” she said in the interview. “He looked around and saw me at the edge of the frame and came over and picked me up and spun me around.”
She said the moment, which happened while they were filming, was “like in one of those movies where the nerd shows up at the prom and the hottest guy at school is like, ‘Would you care to dance?’”
“He made me feel pretty cool,” she said in summary.
