13 Tar Heels named to Athlon Sports All-ACC preseason team
We are still months away from the start of the 2023 college football season as the month of May winds down. But as we approach the summer, publications are starting to roll out preseason teams for conferences.
Athlon Sports put out their picks for the Atlantic Coast Conference preseason teams and 13 Tar Heels were represented.
Headlining the list on the first team is quarterback Drake Maye and linebacker Cedric Gray. The duo also made Athlon Sports’ preseason All-American team for all of college football.
Tight end Bryson Nesbit, linebacker Power Echols and punter Ben Kiernan made the second team. On the third team, UNC was represented by running back Elijah Green, wide receiver Devontez Walker, offensive lineman Spencer Rolland and kicker Ryan Coe.
Running back Omarion Hampton, tight end Kamari Morales, center Corey Gaynor, and kicker Kaimon Rucker were on the fourth team.
Clemson and Florida State led the way with 15 selections each while UNC, Pitt, Miami and Wake Forest had double-digit selections.
