The 2017/18 Premier League season will be remembered as the one where Manchester City under Pep Guardiola became an almost unstoppable force.

They had won two Premier League titles before of course, but by the time City were crowned champions earlier this year there was no doubt this was arguably the most dominant team the league had ever seen.

The number of records they broke was staggering: Most wins (32), most away wins (16), most goals (106), and biggest ever winning margin (19 points).

They were the first team to break the 100 point barrier, had a remarkable goal difference of +76, and only spent 153 minutes in a losing position all season. City’s points haul was more than the three relegated sides, Swansea, Stoke, and West Brom, managed combined.

Guardiola’s side won three home games 5-0 – Liverpool, Crystal Palace and Swansea – while also being Stoke 7-2. Their away form wasn’t too bad shabby either – beating Watford 6-0, Arsenal 3-0, as well as recording an impressive 4-0 win over Swansea.

Manchester City didn’t drop a single point between a 1-1 draw with Everton in week two, and New Year’s Eve when they were held by Crystal Palace, an incredible run of 18 wins in a row they won by a combined score of 58-12.

Their first loss didn’t arrive until this year when Liverpool got the better of them in a 4-3 thriller. City’s only other loss was when a Paul Pogba-inspired Manchester United came from 2-0 down at halftime to win 3-2.

However, by that point Guardiola’s men had already all but wrapped up the title and only had to wait eight more days until they could celebrate.

City’s win over Tottenham Hotspur, combined with Manchester United’s shock home loss to West Brom meant they couldn’t be overhauled a full month before the season finished.
