10 Houma-, Thibodaux-area high school softball players to watch in the 2024 season
High school softball season in Louisiana begins next week. The first games are on Tuesday, Feb. 13, with the regular season running through early April. The rest of the month is the playoffs, leading up to the state championships awarded in Sulphur on April 26 and 27.

With a few days until the season starts, here's 10 Houma- and Thibodaux-area high school softball players to watch in 2024:
Camryn Becnel, senior infielder, E.D. White
Becnel played second base and shortstop for EDW on her way to being named to 2023's Class 3A All-State team.
Kaylie Bergeron, senior lefthanded pitcher, Terrebonne
Bergeron has been an all-district performer in her high school career and enters her senior season as the ace of the THS pitching staff.

Reagan Billiot, senior outfielder, Central Lafourche
Billiot is a two-time all-state performer for CL, and did so despite missing time her sophomore season with injury.
Aubre Fuller, junior righthanded pitcher, H.L. Bourgeois
Fuller can play both ways — starring as a pitcher and at second base and shortstop — and will serve as a leader for an HLB team with no returning seniors.
Aubrey Gautreaux, sophomore infielder, South Terrebonne
Gautreaux not only plays shortstop and third base, she can also fill in as a center fielder in a pinch.
Lana Granier, senior infielder, Thibodaux
Granier will be a leader on a Thibodaux team that returns three seniors from the 2023 squad.
Briley Lovell, eighth grade righthanded pitcher, Houma Christian
Not only did Lovell make varsity as a seventh grader, she turned into a star — being named all-state in Class 2A.
Ella Mabile, junior utility player, Assumption
Mabile capped her 2023 season with all-state honors and committed to Northwestern State to play college softball in December.
Mhallayah Picou, senior infielder, St. James
Picou was named an all-district and all-state performer last season after hitting .618 with nine home runs and 47 runs batted in for the Lady Wildcats. She was also voted the Class 3A Offensive MVP.
Corin Talbot, senior pitcher/infielder, Vandebilt Catholic
Talbot is a former all-district and all-state performer for the Lady Terriers who boasts a six-pitch repertoire in the circle.
