An iconic Sandy image is torn down

The Jet Star roller coaster has been rusting in the waters off the Jersey Shore for six months. A part of the roller coaster fell into the Atlantic Ocean when part of the Casino Pier was washed away by Superstorm Sandy in October 2012. The image of the roller coaster, sitting in the ocean, was perhaps the most famous and enduring image of Sandy, which was the deadliest and most destructive hurricane of the 2012 Atlantic hurricane season, as well as the second-costliest hurricane in United States history.
