Yankees' Pineda arrested for DUI

New York Yankees pitcher Michael Pineda was arrested for driving under the influence on Monday in Tampa, Fla., a police spokesperson told MLB.com.

According to the report, Tampa police said they saw Pineda at approximately 2:35 a.m. operating a vehicle that was speeding and weaving and without its headlights on.

The officer reported that Pineda's breath smelled of alcohol and his speech was slurred.

Pineda was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and released on $500 bond.

Pineda, 23, has been rehabbing in Tampa after having surgery in April to repair a torn labrum in his pitching shoulder. He has not pitched for the Yankees since being acquired in January from the Seattle Mariners.

The Yankees are hoping he will be ready for Spring Training in 2013.
