WVU CB Daryl Worley suspended for team rules violation

There couldn't be a much worse time to lose one of your best defensive backs than the week before No. 4 Oklahoma comes to call, but that's the situation facing Dana Holgorsen after sophomore corner Daryl Worley was suspended from the team on Monday.

Holgorsen and West Virginia announced Monday that Worley has been "suspended indefinitely for a violation of team rules." No other details were provided.

Asked about Worley's status Tuesday, Holgorsen told the media (including the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette) Worley is "indefinitely suspended" but would not comment further, even to confirm that Worley would not play Saturday vs. the Sooners.

Worley's (presumed) absence projects as a major blow for the Mountaineer secondary. After starting five productive games as a freshman, the Philadelphia product has enjoyed a bright start to the season, collecting a pair of interceptions, two tackles-for-loss and 17 tackles overall.

There is some good news for Holgorsen and Co. as senior Ishmael Banks, who started all 12 games for WVU in 2013, is free to return to action following an academic suspension.
