The Denver Broncos have a chance to jump ahead of the Kansas City Chiefs this Sunday for second in the AFC West. Assuming the Oakland Raiders win Sunday, Denver would find themselves one game out of first in the division.

A loss to the Chiefs and a Raiders victory would basically mean an end to Denver’s AFC West hopes. The Raiders own the head-to-head tiebreaker and would be up two games as is. Essentially, it’d be a three-game lead with just five games to go. But there’s nothing to worry about, the Broncos should be able to win Sunday.

This team has had two weeks to prepare for the game, while the Chiefs played poorly at home against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Denver hasn’t hit its stride at any point this season. The offense hasn’t wowed anybody and the defense hasn’t been healthy – therefore not exactly playing up to its usual standards.

This team was able to get by on the road against the New Orleans Saints juggernaut without Aqib Talib and Derek Wolfe. Imagine how much better the defense will play at home with a healthy unit. On a bye. Against an inconsistent offense.

Trevor Siemian has a chance to finally prove his worth as a starting quarterback. But even if he doesn’t, the Broncos defense should be able to contain Alex Smith, Jeremy Maclin and the ground game.

With a healthy defense, coming off a bye week and plenty of time for this unit to regroup, the Broncos will beat the Chiefs on Sunday and move closer to the Raiders in the division.
