Warriors sign C Dedmon from D-League

Center Dewayne Dedmon, who spent the preseason with Golden State, is back with the Warriors. The team signed him Monday from its affiliate in the NBA Development League, the Santa Cruz Warriors.

The move came on the same day Warriors backup center Jermaine O'Neal was diagnosed with a bruised right knee and minor right groin strain. O'Neal is day-to-day.

Dedmon, a 7-footer who was undrafted out of the University of Southern California this year, averaged 3.4 points, four rebounds and one block in five exhibition games with Golden State. He was waived the week before the regular season began.

The 23-year-old produced averages of 13.5 points, 12 rebounds and four blocks in two preseason games for the Santa Cruz Warriors, who start their regular season Friday.

Before playing two seasons for USC, Dedmon spent a year at Antelope Valley College, his hometown school in Lancaster, Calif.
