Vikings RB Peterson expects to play Sunday

Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson said Thursday he plans to play this week against the Green Bay Packers despite being hobbled by a groin injury.

Peterson admitted earlier this week that the injury slowed him down in the Vikings' loss to the Seattle Seahawks last Sunday.

"I'm going to try to get my rest that I need," he said. "I'm probably going to do it this week (in practice). Just push it to Sunday."

Peterson rushed for just 65 yards and a per-carry average of 3.1 in the 41-20 loss at Seattle

Vikings coach Leslie Frazier told reporters Wednesday that he is "cautiously optimistic" Peterson will be able to play through the injury.
