UNLV's Moser leaving Las Vegas for Washington

Mike Moser was a preseason All-American candidate entering his junior year at UNLV this past season.

But an elbow injury hampered his development and now he is leaving Las Vegas and heading to Washington where he will be eligible to play next year. Moser is set to graduate from UNLV in July.

Rebels coach Dave Rice told the Las Vegas Review-Journal on Friday he would wait to comment until speaking with Moser.

Before this past season started, Moser, a 6-foot-8-inch forward, was considered one of the top 10 players in the nation. He suffered a dislocated right elbow in on Dec. 9, and his playing time and production dropped dramatically.

Moser averaged 7.1 points and 6.1 rebounds while playing in 28 of 35 games as a junior for the Rebels.

As a sophomore, he led the Rebels in scoring (14.0) and rebounding (10.5). He considered entering the NBA Draft last summer, when he was projected to be a second-round pick.

Moser, who is from Portland, Ore., played at UCLA as a freshman before transferring to UNLV, where he redshirted for the 2010-11 season.
