UFC Fight Night 26 Live Gate and Attendance

Saturday night’s UFC Fight Night 26: Shogun vs. Sonnen at the TD Garden in Boston drew an audience of 12,539 for gate receipts totaling $1.53 million, according to UFC president Dana White.

Those numbers represent a fight-night estimate. The Massachusetts State Athletic Commission should release the official numbers in the coming days.

The last time the promotion was in Boston was for UFC 118: Edgar vs. Penn II. That was also at the TD Garden with 14,168 in attendance and a live gate totaling $2.8 million.

UFC Fight Night 26 served as prime time launch programming on the new Fox Sports 1 network.

Coming off of back-to-back losses to Anderson Silva and Jon Jones, Chael Sonnen got back on track with an impressive first-round submission of former UFC light heavyweight champion Mauricio “Shogun” Rua in the UFC Fight Night 26 main event.

Heavyweight hopeful Travis Browne took a huge step forward in his career by mounting a miraculous comeback, knocking out Alistair Overeem in the first round.

There had been numerous political hurdles involving a Boston city councilman and Unite Here union representatives, but UFC president Dana White said at the post fight press conference that he still loves Boston and the UFC will be back.
