Tristan Payton put his football instincts to good use on Wednesday.

According to multiple reports, Payton, a wide receiver on UCF’s football team, tackled a man who was allegedly filming underage girls in a bathroom.

According to the Central Florida Future, campus police said 21-year-old UCF student Jonathan Justin Hui pointed his cell phone under a restroom stall to film a girl using the toilet. The girl was informed by friends of Hui’s presence and demanded him to stop. The girls, who were attending a cheerleading camp, then told a coach, who saw Hui leaving the bathroom. When the coach attempted to confront Hui, he fled.

Hui was tracked down by Payton, who, according to KnightNews.com, “tackled” Hui to the ground and held him down until police arrived. Police said Payton, who was assisted by another man, was able to confiscate Hui’s phone before he could delete the videos.

The alleged incident took place at CFE Arena on UCF’s campus.

From the Central Florida Future:

When approached, Hui ran away, fleeing through Jimmy Johns and out onto Memory Mall. He was detained at Starbucks by student-athlete Tristan Payton and another individual, who took away Hui’s cellphone until officers arrived on scene.

Hui admitted to investigators that he had filmed the girl in the women’s restroom, stating that he intended to videotape the girl’s feet and send it to his friends because he thought “it was funny that he was in a restroom full of females,” according to the arrest affidavit.

UCFPD Det. Eric Walton, a digital forensic expert, was given consent to access Hui’s phone. Upon unlocking the phone, Walton was presented with a “screen asking for confirmation to delete contents.” The first video Walton witnessed showed the girl standing up in the restroom stall and raising her pants.

Hui was hit with several charges, including possession of obscene material, burglary of an occupied structure, led and lascivious behavior and “sex offense – video voyeurism.”

Payton, a sophomore from Jacksonville, Fla., had 21 catches for 264 yards and a touchdown in 2015. He also averaged 24.2 yards per kickoff return on 30 attempts.

He was recognized for his good deeds on campus Thursday.
