Sad news today. Former Seahawks quarterback and current free agent Tarvaris Jackson has been arrested for pointing a gun at and threatening to kill his wife.

The report came out a short time ago from Chris Hush:

Frightening. Truly.

Jackson has been backing up Russell Wilson for the Seahawks the last few years and now this, seemingly out of nowhere.

This being Friday afternoon, I’m not in the mood to dive into the political debates these stories bring out. It’s simply sad to hear.

AROUND COVER32

Seahawks: Russell Wilson is training with Antonio Brown

Seahawks: Seattle’s offense is becoming a monster

Deflate Gate: This madness must not reach the Supreme Court

Obviously Jackson will not be re-signing with the Seahawks after this incident, which might guarantee that former TCU star Trevone Boykin will backup Wilson in 2016. Boykin has an arrest under his belt as well (a result of a bar fight on New Year’s Eve) but the team does not sound concerned and he may have already won the job even before Jackson went off the deep end.

Let’s take a trip to the film room and get more acquainted with Wilson’s new understudy.

On the surface Boykin looks as mobile as Wilson and has many of the same admirable qualities. Good against college is one thing, though. Good against the pros is another. He will need to work on avoiding staring down his receivers if he wants to avoid throwing a lot of interceptions at this level.

Most likely we will see Boykin getting a lot of first team reps in August as Seattle tries to bring him along. Stay tuned.
