Thunder's Perkins charged with assault
Oklahoma City Thunder center Kendrick Perkins faces an assault charge stemming from a July incident outside a nightclub in Houston, KHOU-TV reported Thursday.
Charges were refiled after the case originally was dismissed, according to court documents. Perkins and his brother-in-law, Quincy Alpough, were charged with misdemeanor assault.
Perkins posted a $1,000 bond on Thursday morning, KHOU reported.
According to police, Ja'Keenan Cotton said Perkins punched him and his sister, Miketta Cotton, in a parking lot outside Nox nightclub. Catherine McGrue, a passenger in Cotton's car, told police that Alpough elbowed her. All three claimed that they also were kicked by several people.
Perkins, the Thunder's starting center last season, was not at the team's practice facility on Thursday, The Daily Oklahoman reported.
"We were made aware of the allegations," Thunder general manager Sam Presti said in a statement. "It is something we take seriously and are gathering more information. We will have no further comment at this time."
