Thiago Alves vs. Jordan Mein Added to UFC Fight Night Event in Tulsa

Welterweights Thiago Alves and Jordan Mein are set to fight at a UFC Fight Night event on Aug. 23 in Tulsa, Okla., according to UFC officials.

After more than two years out of action due to multiple surgeries, Alves (20-9) recently returned to the Octagon at UFC on FOX 11 in April. It was a positive step for Alves, who looked like “the Pitbull” of old, scoring a unanimous decision victory over Seth Baczynski in a Fight of the Night performance.

Looking to make up for lost time, Alves is ready to get back in the cage in what will be four months from his return date.

Although not out for as long as Alves, Mein (28-9) also recently returned to action following a long layoff. After losing to red-hot Matt Brown, in which he suffered a broken nose and fractured orbital bone, Mein got back on track, also at UFC on FOX 11.

Mein will be looking to put a stamp on his return against Alves, however, after having had to go to a split decision to get the win over Hernani Perpétuo.

The only other confirmed bouts for UFC Fight Night in Tulsa thus far are Wilson Reis vs. Tim Elliott and Chas Skelly vs. Tom Niinimaki. The UFC has not yet announced a main event for the event at the BOK center.
