Taijuan Walker tosses six one-run innings in relief Monday

Mariners pitcher Taijuan Walker came up big for the team Monday, giving up just one earned run on six hits and two walks in six innings while striking out five in his team's 6-1 loss to the A's.

Walker was called upon to start the second inning after starter Chris Young couldn't make it out of the first, and his first appearance back in the big leagues went exceedingly well, with Walker throwing 61 of his 89 pitches for strikes. He could be a contender to make a few starts in September. Walker owns a 3.00 ERA and 19:15 K:BB ratio in 21 innings.
