Sources: Stuckey re-signs with Pistons for three years, $25 million

Guard Rodney Stuckey has signed a three year, $25 million contract to stay with the Detroit Pistons, league sources told Yahoo! Sports on Saturday.

Stuckey missed the Pistons training camp in contract talks, but few teams were interested in seriously bidding on him as a restricted free agent because of the expectation that Detroit would match an offer and retain him.

Stuckey was expected to begin practice with the Pistons on Saturday.

Stuckey has moved between the point and shooting guard in his three years with the Pistons, never fully blossoming as a playmaker. Stuckey averaged 15.5 points and 5.2 assists for Detroit a year ago. His attitude was a problem a season ago under ousted coach John Kuester, and this could be a telltale season for his career. The Pistons front office and coaching staff expect Stuckey to still be a cornerstone of the future along with forward Greg Monroe and rookie point guard Brandon Knight.

The Pistons drafted Knight out of Kentucky with the eighth pick in the draft, and he's impressed GM Joe Dumars and coach Lawrence Frank in training camp. Nevertheless, Stuckey is the one Pistons guard with significant size at 6-foot-5, bigger than Knight, Will Bynum and Ben Gordon.
