Source: New Mexico St. WR Austin Franklin visited Giants

New Mexico State junior wide receiver Austin Franklin visited the New York Giants, according to a league source.

Franklin caught 52 passes for 670 yards and seven touchdowns last season despite missing the first four games due to academic ineligibility issues.

For his career, he finished with 160 receptions for 2,439 yards and 19 touchdowns.

The All-Independent honorable-mention selection had 14 teams at his Pro Day workout, including the Indianapolis Colts, Dallas Cowboys, Arizona Cardinals, Carolina Panthers, Miami Dolphins, Green Bay Packers, New England Patriots, San Diego Chargers, Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Redskins and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The 5-foot-11, 189-pounder ran the 40-yard dash in 4.56 seconds at the NFL scouting combine. He had a 10-4 broad jump at his Pro Day with a 39 1/2 inch vertical leap and a 10-4 broad jump.

In 2012, Franklin caught 74 passes for 1,245 yards and nine touchdowns and was a first-team All-Western Athletic Conference selection. In 2011, he caught 32 passes for 508 yards and three touchdowns.

For his career, Franklin returned 29 kickoffs for 605 yards for a 20.9 average. He had 28 carries for 130 yards for his career.
