A-Rod remains hitless after two rehab games
Alex Rodriguez played in his second game during his minor league rehab assignment on Wednesday and for the second straight game went hitless for the Class A Charleston RiverDogs.
The Yankees third baseman played three innings for the RiverDogs and when 0-for-2. He is 0-for-four in his two rehab games.
"(He) definitely he needs more playing time. There's no doubt about it," RiverDogs manager Al Pedrique told the Daily News on Wednesday afternoon after Rodriguez's debut on Tuesday. "He was off a little bit offensively. Again it's not easy facing a guy you never faced before. I'm sure there's some tension there. But on the field he looked fine.
"Again he needs more playing time, facing more (pitchers), and I think he's going to be able to get back."
In the field on Wednesday, Rodriguez turned a high bouncer into a 5-4-3 double play.
According to the New York Daily News, Rodriguez will work out at the team's minor league complex in Tampa on Thursday. He is expected to play for Class A Tampa on Friday in a Florida State league game.
Rodriguez is working his way back into playing shape following January surgery on his left hip.
