Report: Starks gets to keep $160,000 signing bonus from Chargers

The SportsXchange

The San Diego Chargers released tackle Max Starks on Friday, but paid for it.

When Starks signed with the Chargers on May 22, he received a $160,000 signing bonus, which he'll be able to keep -- not to mention be eligible to sign with another team, according to a report by ProFootballTalk.com.

In a way, though, the Chargers actually saved themselves a lot more money. Had they not released Starks, they would have been on the hook to pay him a $1 million base salary, as well.
