Report: Sports drinks caffeine led to Hamilton's absence

Texas Rangers slugger Josh Hamilton was scheduled to return to the lineup Monday night after being out since Sept. 18 with blurred vision that was a result of too much caffeine from sports drinks, ESPNDallas.com reported Monday.

Hamilton has ocular keratitis, a condition that can result from consuming too much caffeine.

Hamilton's number have slipped somewhat in the second half of the season, but he is still batting .287 with 42 homers, the latter being tied for the major-league lead.
