Report: NFL discussing suspending Goldson

The NFL is considering suspending Tampa Bay Buccaneers safety Dashon Goldson for a helmet-to-helmet hit on Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Jaron Brown during Sunday's game, according to ESPN.

Goldson had a one-game ban overturned earlier this season for his hit on New Orleans Saints running back Darren Sproles. However, he was fined $100,000. He may not get to avoid a suspension this time because of his history of illegal hits.

After his suspension was overturned, Goldson said he would be more careful.

"I know there are going to be a lot of eyes on me from now on," he said. "And that's OK. I just have to be smart. I'm not trying to hurt my team and I'm definitely not trying to hurt myself with the way I play."

Since the Buccaneers are on a bye this week, Goldson would miss the Oct. 13 game against the Philadelphia Eagles if he gets suspended.

Goldson has been penalized for a league-high 16 personal fouls since 2009.
