Report: Chiefs to interview Reid
Fired Philadelphia Eagles coach Andy Reid apparently has suitors other than the Arizona Cardinals for his services.
Reid is scheduled to interview with the Kansas City Chiefs for their head-coaching vacancy on Wednesday in Philadelphia before traveling west to meet with the Cardinals, ESPN.com reported.
The Chiefs met with Atlanta Falcons offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter on Tuesday, one day after they fired Romeo Crennell following a 2-14 season.
According to ESPN, Reid is putting together a coaching staff, saying he expects to have a new job by the end of the week. The Eagles won 130 regular-season games and six division titles under Reid since 1999 but stumbled to a 4-12 finish this season.
Despite reports to the contrary, the Cardinals denied Tuesday that they are close to hiring Reid to replace Ken Whisenhunt, who was fired Monday along with general manager Rod Graves. According to USA Today, the Cardinals denied that they had scheduled an interview with Reid.
There were multiple reports that Cardinals management interviewed the team's offensive coordinator, Ray Horton, on Tuesday and that Denver Broncos offensive coordinator Mike McCoy will interview this weekend.
Horton also reportedly was expected to meet with the Cleveland Browns and the Buffalo Bills about their openings.
Another Cardinals target could be Oregon coach Chip Kelly. The Ducks are in Arizona to play in the Fiesta Bowl, and Cardinals executives were on hand Tuesday at Oregon's practice to scout players, USA Today reported.
Steve Keim, the team's vice president of player personnel, is one of the top candidates to become Cardinals general manager. He also is scheduled to interview with San Diego and possibly with Jacksonville for their GM vacancies, according to USA Today.
