Reliever Mahay retires after 14 seasons

Left-handed reliever Ron Mahay is retiring after a 14-year major-league career, according to the Boston Globe.

Mahay signed a minor league deal with the Cincinnati Reds a year ago but did not make it past Class AAA Louisville. He last appeared in the majors as a member of the Minnesota Twins in 2010.

The 41-year-old is reportedly looking to get into managing or coaching. He had a career 3.83 ERA and 1.42 WHIP with eight teams.
