Red Wings sign Dekeyser

The Detroit Red Wings have signed college free agent defenseman Dan Dekeyser, the club announced Friday.

DeKeyser was playing college hockey for Western Michigan before reaching agreement on a two-year contract with Detroit.

DeKeyser, 23, is scheduled to practice with the Red Wings on Saturday, but he won't play in the team's games Sunday or Monday.

"We're happy," said Wings general manager Ken Holland, according to ProHockeyTalk.com. "You're always looking for defenseman, and this guy is rangy, mobile."
