Red Sox place Cook on DL, activate Miller

Right-hander Aaron Cook has been placed on the 15-day disabled list by the Boston Red Sox, the team announced Sunday.

Cook, who was recently called up from Triple-A Pawtucket, sustained a left knee laceration. He was replaced on the roster by left-hander Aaron Miller, who was activated from the 15-day DL.

Cook was called up last week after a clause in his minor-league contract required him to be promoted or be allowed to become a free agent May 1. He had a 3-0 record with a 1.89 ERA in Triple A.

The 11-year veteran suffered the injury during his start against the Baltimore Orioles, his first with Boston.

Miller started the season on the disabled list because of a left hamstring strain. He has pitched in 12 rehabilitation games, striking out 26 batters in 13 innings with a 4.85 ERA.
