Raiders sign FB Reece to three-year extension

Fullback Marcel Reece signed a three-year contract extension with the Oakland Raiders.

"It's another step to my goal -- being a Raider for life," Reece said Friday. "I plan on playing for as long as God will allow me to. If it's for a lot longer, I want it all to be with the Raiders. Al Davis believed in me more than I did myself at times, and it meant a lot to me. I take it to heart and I take it seriously. Mark Davis has loved me the same. I love the organization and I love the Raiders family. I plan on being a Raider for life."

The versatile running back was a wide receiver when he was recruited to the University of Washington.

He's in his sixth season and has 31 career starts, 106 rushes for 505 yards (4.8 yards per carry) and 107 receptions for 1,159 yards (10.8 yards per reception).

Reece was named to the Pro Bowl in 2012, posting 271 rushing yards (4.6 yards per carry) and 496 receiving yards. Reece's 52 receptions last season were second on the team, and his 9.5 yards per catch were tops among backs in the NFL.

Reece went undrafted and signed with the Miami Dolphins in 2008 before joining the Raiders that offseason. He spent the majority of his first two years in the league on Oaklands practice squad before appearing in all 16 games for the Raiders in 2010.
