Raiders claim WR Holmes, sign 7 rookies

The Oakland Raiders signed seven players who tried out with the team over the weekend and claimed wide receiver Andre Holmes off waivers from the New England Patriots.

Holmes played in seven games for the Dallas Cowboys last season, catching two passes for 11 yards. He was a teammate of Raiders left tackle Jared Veldheer at Hillsdale. Holmes was originally signed by the Minnesota Vikings as an undrafted rookie, and joined the Cowboys for the final four games of the 2011 season.

The seven players signed after participating on a tryout basis at the rookie minicamp were cornerback Chance Casey-Thomas, linebacker Eric Harper, wide receiver Greg Jenkins, tight end Jeron Mastrud, defensive end Ryan Robinson, center Andrew Robiskie and cornerback Mitchell White.

Cornerback Adrian Bushell, center Deveric Gallington, defensive back Akwasi Owusu-Ansah, tight end Mickey Shuler and long snapper Adam Steiner were waived.
