President Obama plans to 'scout' Carson Wentz before Bears game Monday

No stopping the Carson Wentz hype train now.

President Barack Obama, who was stumping for Hillary Clinton in Philadelphia on Tuesday, was asked about the Philadelphia Eagles rookie sensation in advance of the team’s Monday night matchup against the Chicago Bears.

Obama said he is looking forward to “scouting” Wentz, who had a terrific NFL debut against the Cleveland Browns. The president’s favorite team is the Bears. Vice president Joe Biden, from nearby Delaware, has implored Obama to get on the “Wentz Wagon.”

A year ago, Wentz was playing Weber State. Now he’s the toast of Philly getting name-dropped by the president. What a world.

This Wentz stuff is so out of control, you can’t even imagine where he’ll be with, say, multiple NFL games under his belt. (Note: The soonest Wentz, who turns 24 in December, can run for president would be the 2028 election.)

The North Dakota-bred Wentz has tried to stay grounded. “At the end of the day for me, it’s still just about playing football. I’ve got to block out the noise — both good and bad — and just get back to work.”

How very politically savvy of him. No wonder the Oval Office is warming up to the kid so quickly.
