Pittsburgh 77, Lehigh 58

Pittsburgh remained undefeated thanks to a great start and never looked back in beating Lehigh, 77-58, Wednesday night as part of the Progressive Legends Classic at the Petersen Events Center.

The victory enabled the Panthers to start a season 4-0 for the 15th time in the last 16 years, while the loss marked the third straight for Lehigh, which fell to 1-4.

The game was done by halftime. Pitt got out to an 8-0 lead before Lehigh guard Corey Schaefer finally got the Mountain Hawks on the board with 15:49 left in the half. An Austin Price 3-pointer drew Lehigh to within 12-9 with 12:55 left in the half, which was the closest Lehigh would come.

The Panthers then took the game over with a 16-0 run, opening up what had been a fairly close game into a 34-11 lead with 7:04 left in the half. Lehigh went on a 7:40 drought without scoring a basket. Pitt went into halftime up, 47-23, making 18 of 31 from the floor (58.1 percent).

Forward Talib Zanna led Pitt with a game-high 23 points, Guard Lamar Patterson added 17 and forward Durand Johnson scored 15. Center Tim Kempton was a glimmer for the Mountain Hawks, with 20 points.
