Philadelphia Eagles could be favorite to land wide receiver Kenny Britt

Making some positional changes to their coaching staff earlier in the offseason, the Philadelphia Eagles may have landed a very big connection as they prepare to head into free agency. Replacing their wide receiver coach after an extremely poor season at the position, the Eagles hired former Los Angeles Rams receivers coach Mike Groh to the same position.

While these hires may normally be inconsequential and rarely spotlighted, this particular hire may open the door for the Eagles to address their receiving issues from this past season. Having the best season of his career last season with the Rams, wide receiver Kenny Britt managed to do so with extremely poor quarterback play and one of the worst offenses in the league.

Most of the credit for Britt’s career season last year has been going to Mike Groh. Becoming a free agent this offseason following such a good season, Britt is expected to be highly sought after. Having the receivers coach that’s been credited with making Britt a top receiver should help the Philadelphia Eagles in their pursuit of Britt this offseason.

In need of receiving help this offseason, the Eagles are highly expected to be involved in the race for most of the free agent receivers available this offseason. Speaking about the issue, Philly’s vice president of player personnel Joe Douglas appears to be open in terms of what type of receiver the team will pursue this offseason.

“There’s a lot of great receivers and everyone has a different style, whether it’s a guy with all the tools like a Julio Jones and Calvin Johnson to a rough and rugged guy that’s just going to impose his will on guys like Hines Ward and Anquan Boldin. There’s a lot of different ways to skin a cat in regards to that position. Honestly, I’m just looking for the guy that’s going to come in here and compete and be productive and be the best player he can for the Eagles.”

Likely to also come at a discounted price compared to other players at the position this offseason, Kenny Britt may be a solid choice to build the receiving corps around for now. Adding a player like him and DeSean Jackson would give Carson Wentz two talented players to throw too, something the team desperately needs if it wants to be successful next season.
