Patriots' Dennard cited for DUI

Alfonzo Dennard of the New England Patriots was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving early Thursday morning, the Omaha World-Herald first reported.

Dennard, 24, was alleged straddling the center line in at 2 a.m. when he was pulled over in Lincoln, Neb., where he attended school and played cornerback for the Cornhuskers.

The legal woes aren't new to the Patriots -- or Dennard.

He was convicted of one count of assaulting a uniformed police officer, for which the penalty was 30 days in jail, two years probation and 100 hours of law enforcement-related community service.

His arrest could lead the county court judge who allowed a delayed jail sentence to begin next March, to reconsider. Judge Stephanie Stacy permitted the delay to avoid costing Dennard any practice or game time with the Patriots.

A projected first- or second-round pick coming out of Nebraska, Dennard's arrest contributed to him sliding almost all the way out of the draft. The Patriots picked him 224th overall, in the seventh round.
