Padres Partner With Callaway, Create Par-3 Course At Petco Park

Do you live in or around San Diego? Are you tired of your local golf courses? Are you enthusiastic about the baseball offseason? Are you not part of that oddly specific niche and just curious because of the headline and/or tweet that brought you hear?

Then we bring you the Links at Petco Park! Well, OK, we don't. Callaway and the Padres do. And we'll let them explain:

An all-new nine-hole golf experience has arrived at Petco Park. Each hole will feature a unique theme and the opportunity to win prizes like a new Callaway Great Big Bertha Driver. Golfers will finish in The Loft presented by Budweiser.

We use the words "were" and "was" because there's already a waiting list.

While there aren't pictures of the ballpark's transformation just yet, we can provide you these renderings of the course's routing, with the greens on the field and tee boxes generally residing in the upper decks:

According to Golf Digest, who got one of the first looks at the course, the round will cost $50 and will include “a hat, parking and the chance to test Callaway wedges.”

The first hole will start at home plate with golfers teeing off towards center field for a 110-yard shot, which might just be the coolest opening hole in golf for the time being.

The total yardage for the nine-hole course will be 1,002 yards and the course even has added trees and bunkers, giving it the look and feel of a real par-3 golf course.
