Packers' Woodson expected to be back soon

Green Bay Packers defensive back Charles Woodson, who has been out six weeks with a broken collarbone, is likely to return next week, and conceivably could play this week against the Lions, coach Mike McCarthy said Monday, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

"Charles is probably, I would think maybe next week (against Chicago) would be my guess there," McCarthy said, according to the Journal Sentinel. "If you ask Charles, he's probably pushing to play this week. There's some more testing that you have to do to make sure he's cleared. He has not been cleared yet."

Woodson, 36, has one interception in seven games this season after picking off seven passes last year.

However, McCarthy also said wide receiver Jordy Nelson is unlikely to play this week against Detroit.

Jennings' hamstring injury is not believed to be serious, but McCarthy told the Journal Sentinal that Nelson would be "hard pressed" to play against the Lions.
