Owens hopes to play in 2013, eyes Bears

Terrell Owens did not play in the NFL in 2012, but despite missing the entire season, the 39-year-old believes he can contribute to someone this upcoming season.

And that someone might be the Chicago Bears. One of the main reasons Owens is targeting the Bears is new Chicago head coach Marc Trestman, whom Owens has known for nearly two decades.

"I played my first early years in San Francisco with [Trestman as an assistant] and shortly after that, he left to do some things," Owens told CSNChicago.com on Friday. "I haven't talked to Marc in a long while. I know he's gone on and done some things, now he's back in the NFL. ... I would definitely welcome it if they would give it some serious consideration."

Owens believes that he could be a vital cog to the Bears' offense, especially lining up opposite the Bears' other wide receiver, Brandon Marshall.

"To think about [Marshall] on the other side and me on one side, that's really dangerous," Owens said. "I'm keeping myself in shape just for any opportunity that may come about."
