KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Chris Davis upped his RBI total to a major-league-leading 97 by driving in three runs Monday night as the Baltimore Orioles pounded out a 9-2 victory over the Kansas City Royals.
The Orioles won their fifth straight, their longest streak since winning six in a row last September.
Davis had a sacrifice fly in the first inning and a two-run double in the sixth.
J.J. Hardy also drove in three runs. He homered in Baltimore's four-run sixth off Luis Mendoza with Davis aboard, and his groundout in the third scored Davis.
The Orioles collected 18 hits, equaling their season high. Hardy, Nick Markakis and Henry Urrutia each had three hits.
Baltimore right-hander Scott Feldman (2-1) allowed two runs on five hits over eight innings. Feldman, who was obtained in a July 2 trade from the Chicago Cubs, has won his past two starts, allowing five runs and 10 hits in 15 1/3 innings.
The Royals had not committed an error in 11 consecutive games, tying the club record, but that quickly ended in the first inning, leading to two unearned runs.
After Nate McLouth walked to lead the inning off, Kansas City third baseman Mike Moustakas failed to field Manny Machado's bouncer. McLouth scored from first on the error, while Machado advanced to second. Machado stopped at third on Markakis' single and scored on Davis' sacrifice fly.
Royals right-hander Wade Davis (4-9) ran into more difficulty in the second inning, but this time a defensive gem bailed him out. The Orioles loaded the bases on Urrutia and McLouth singles sandwiched around a Brian Roberts walk to load the bases.
After Davis struck out Machado swinging and Markakis looking, Adam Jones drilled a liner to right-center that Lorenzo Cain made a diving catch to end the inning.
Wade Davis failed to make it through the third, giving up two more runs. Chris Davis began the inning with a single and moved to third on Matt Wieters' double off the left-field bullpen gate. He scored on Hardy's ground out. Urrutia's broken-bat single scored Wieters.
After walking McLouth again, Davis was yanked and replaced by Mendoza. Davis retired only eight of the 19 batters he faced, giving up four runs on seven hits and three walks.
The Royals trimmed the lead to 4-2 with single runs in the third and fourth inning.
Alcides Escobar's sacrifice fly scored David Lough in the third. Lough singled home Salvador Perez in the fourth with the second run.
The Orioles picked up a run in the fifth when Roberts' sacrifice fly scored J.J. Hardy.
NOTES: Royals RHP Felipe Paulino, who has been on the disabled list all season after having Tommy John surgery last year, threw a 25-pitch batting practice session and did not experience any shoulder discomfort that had set him back this month. ... Kansas City 2B Chris Getz, who left the game Saturday with a mild left knee sprain, has been cleared to play, but was absent from the lineup. Miguel Tejada made his second straight start at second, and he went 1-for-3. ... The Royals acquired OF Gorkys Hernandez in a minor league trade with the Marlins. Hernandez, who hit .275 in 90 games with Triple-A New Orleans, was assigned to Triple-A Omaha. The Royals sent Class A INF Alex McClure to the Marlins. ... Orioles RHP Steve Johnson, who is on the disabled list with a left oblique strain, will report to Class A Aberdeen to continue rehabbing.
