Oklahoma State running back kicked off team

The Oklahoma State running back Hershel Sims has been dismissed for violating team rules, coach Mike Gundy announced Friday.

Sims, a freshman last season, rushed 31 times for 242 yards. He had two 100-plus yard games and scored two touchdowns.

Sims was third on the Cowboys' tailback depth chart behind juniors Joseph Randle and Jeremy Smith.

The Abilene, Texas, native is expected to play a season of junior college football and then transfer to Baylor, according to the Tulsa World. Baylor was among at least five Big 12 teams to offer Sims a scholarship in 2011.
